View powerful tide whirlpools up close on this ocean cruise
Take a boat tour to the Kurushima Strait whirlpools and see this exciting natural phenomenon up close. These whirlpools occur as the tides shift, forcing huge amounts of seawater into the Seto Inland Sea and then, a few hours later, drawing it back out. Whirlpools form, dissolve, and reform daily as the tide reverses direction. From the boat, you can see the Kurushima Kaiyo Bridge, three massive connecting suspension bridges, as well as the shipyards of Hashihama, a symbol of the Imabari area.
