Kujukushima Boat Excursions
Cruise around the spectacular emerald islands of Kujukushima
Just off the coast of Nagasaki, Kujukushima is a cluster of verdant islands that are popular for cruising and dolphin watching. Although the name means 99 islands, there are closer to 208, spreading across the bay like emeralds. The gateway to the islands is Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort, with an aquarium, restaurants and shopping and a variety of cruise options.
Pearl Queen, a reproduction tall ship, offers day cruises all year, and sunset cruises in summer when you might spot frolicking dolphins. Mirai, a whimsical red pirate ship for day cruises, maximizes views with its large picture windows. There are smaller boats for eco tours and lunch tours, with freshly roasted oysters and shellfish. Take a small boat to explore the uninhabited islands and learn about the ecosystem. More independent travelers can sail a yacht around the islands or try kayaking. After your cruise, head up to one of the observatories in the hills above the resort to catch the unforgettable sunset over the islands.
