Okinawa Prefecture is located in southern Japan and has 160 islands of various sizes. Its beautiful sea surrounded by coral reefs is a major draw, and has its own unique food and culture from the Ryukyu Kingdom, an archipelago that was separated from Japan. Okinawa has urban areas such as Naha, including Kokusai-dori Street, beautiful beaches and other natural attractions. Its many tourist facilities, such as Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, attract many tourists from both within domestic Japan and abroad. The climate is mild, with an average annual temperature of around 23°C in Naha and rarely below 10°C even in midwinter.
