Saishoin Temple

History of Saishoin Temple

The Saisho-in Temple is where the visually-striking five-story pagoda is located—a landmark recognized as the most beautiful in the Tohoku region. The pagoda, which was built 350 years ago, was built to commemorate the fallen soldiers who died during the Tsugaru district reunification battle.

Aside from the pagoda, other sacred points are found within the temple which tells about the religious culture in Hirosaki.
