Skiers and snowboarders are sure to appreciate a trip to Geto Kogen Ski Resort, located in a beautiful mountainous area in the southern part of Iwate Prefecture. At this impressive destination, you’ll find record-setting powder snowfalls, 14 unique slopes, and 13 tree run areas—more than 14.1 kilometers of terrain for skiing and snowboarding. Amenities also abound, from a 1,000-seat food court to a ski school, natural hot spring, and accommodations for those who need more than one day to take it all in. 

With countless courses to choose from, you’re sure to be able to find one right for you whether you’re a beginner, expert, or anywhere in between. The modern skiing facilities offer a wide selection of slopes served by two gondolas, allowing guests to ski all the runs in a day or two. The trails are easily accessible, spread out in a fan shape around the central lodge, so you’ll never lose your way. Trails of various lengths and steepness offer something to satisfy everyone from adults to small children.

Access: From Tokyo Station, take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Kitakami Station (about two hours 30 minutes). A free shuttle bus is available from the station to Geto Kogen.
