Hit the Slopes at a Niseko Winter Sports Wonderland

A rural Hokkaido retreat offering skiing, sleigh rides, snowshoeing and more!

If you’re a winter sports aficionado in Japan, you’ve probably heard of Niseko. Most of the resorts in this famous area are on Mt. Niseko-Annupuri, which offers breathtaking views of Mt. Yotei while you ski or snowboard down the slopes. Those looking for new experiences are welcome to try their hand at snowshoeing, or even go for a ride on a reindeer-pulled sleigh.
Niseko Village is among the most famous of these resorts. Several options for lodging are available here, including large hotels and villa-style accommodations. The area boasts a quaint shopping area offering a variety of restaurants, shops, and cultural experiences. The ease of access of shopping here is unparalleled in this rural area. You'll have everything you need for an amazing vacation at your fingertips.

Summertime visitors can enjoy outdoor activities and adventure sports, including hot air balloons, zip lines, tree trekking, rail slides, and mountain biking. This makes Niseko Village a great option year-round for anyone looking for a countryside retreat.

Access: From Sapporo Station, take the Rapid Otaru Train to Otaru Station (about 34 minutes), then walk to the Otaru Eki-mae bus stop (about four minutes) and take the bus bound for Niseko Eki-mae to the Hondori stop (about one hour 56 minutes). Walk four minutes to Niseko Village.
