Experience the Thrill of Zipping Down a Mountain

Take a zip line tour and relax with wine and a soak in the hot springs in the evening

The Lotte Arai Resort is a magical winter wonderland during the ski season, and a refreshing place to enjoy the mountain air during the hot summer season, making it a great place to visit any time of year. The resort is located in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture and is renowned for its exhilarating ski slopes with gorgeous views of Mt. Myoko. Even outside the snow season, it is a popular place to visit for its extraordinary zip line tour.

The zip line here stretches 1,501 meters long, with a descent of about 240 meters, which you will slide down in just a matter of minutes. Afterwards, you can take it slow and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and plains below, which are stunning in all seasons.

After a thrilling day of outdoor adventure, you will not want to miss a chance to relax at the resort. The Lotte Arai Resort features an in-house wine shop offering an array of wines from across Japan as well as glass and tableware made from locally sourced jade. Be sure to also take a soak in the resort’s natural indoor and outdoor hot spring baths. The spring water gushes forth from a staggering 1,750 meters underground and contains minerals that are said to beautify skin and heal a number of ailments. When the weather is good, a healing soak under a starry sky can be an exquisite way to end the day.

Access: From Tokyo Station, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Joetsumyoko Station, (about two hours), then board the free shuttle bus to the resort (about 30 minutes).
