At the 48 falls of Akame, a training ground in nature for the famed Iga ninja clan in the 15th and 16th centuries, you, too, can become a ninja for a day. 

Wearing authentic clothing, you’ll get the lowdown on time-honored techniques of concentration, climbing, and infiltration. Dodge shuriken throwing stars and defend yourself in a VR-assisted shuriken simulation. 

The one-hour 30-minute tour takes in ancient forests and rushing rapids along the way on a course sure to delight the whole family, nature lovers, and aspiring ninja alike. In fact, there aren’t actually 48 waterfalls here, but there are many, and you’ll see why the ninja chose this natural spot for their training. Children under seven must be accompanied by an adult.

Access: From Nagoya Station, walk to the Kintetsu Nagoya Station (about two minutes), take a limited express train to Nabari Station (about two hours), then transfer to the Kintetsu Express or regular train from Nabari Station to Akameguchi Station (about three minutes) and take the Akeme Line bus to Akame Falls 48 (about 15 minutes).
