The enchanting nighttime landscapes of Yunishigawa Onsen's Kamakura Festival
Visit a winter wonderland of hundreds of illuminated snow huts, barbecues and sledding at Yunishigawa Onsen
Yunishigawa Onsen is a small hot spring town that hosts an impressive festival each winter. At the annual Kamakura Festival, hundreds of snow huts, called kamakura, are built and illuminated. Some are large enough for people to sit inside.
Head to the Heiko-no-Sato venue to enjoy hearty hot pot stews inside the snow huts, marvel at the impressive snowscapes, and enjoy some sledding. Alternatively, visit the Sawaguchi venue for outdoor barbecues and beautiful views of hundreds of tiny snow lanterns. Thrill-seekers can pay a visit to Mizunosato Snow Park to sled down a huge snow slide.
