Day 1

Discover a landscape formed by volcanic activity

After arriving at Oki Airport in the morning, take a car to the Oki Islands Geopark Museum to learn about the natural history of the four Oki Islands and their unique ecosystem. From there, make your way to Tamawakasu-mikoto Shrine. This is the main shrine of the Oki Islands and is designated a National Important Cultural Property. Take the time to explore the shrine and see the Yao-sugi Japanese Cedar, one of the largest cedars on the Oki Islands, believed to be more than 2,000 years old.

After lunch, go to the Marine Sports Center for a sea kayak cave tour. This guided tour provides a close-up experience of the dramatic coastline of the Oki Islands, which was formed by volcanic activity. Explore the area's fascinating geological formations guided by an expert who will lead you through expansive caverns and point out intriguing features.

In the evening, take a cruise to witness the sunset over Rosokujima, a peculiarly-shaped rock formation that resembles a lit candle when viewed from the waters at sundown. Once the cruise is over, make your way to your accommodation on Okinoshima Island for the night.

Day 2

E-bike around Nishinoshima

Begin your day by boarding a ferry to Nishinoshima Island, where a day of exploration awaits. The mountainous island is perhaps best explored on an electric mountain bike. The electric assistance makes it easy to navigate the changing elevation. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery of the Kuniga Coast, such as the 257-meter-high Matengai Cliff. Bike to the Akao Lookout for sweeping views.

After lunch, bike to the walking trail leading to Takuhi Shrine atop Mount Takuhi. This wooden building, partially concealed in a cave, is one of the oldest extant shrines on the Oki Islands. At the base of the mountain is the Takuhi Gama Ceramic Art Studio, where you can try your hand at crafting ceramic pieces or dyeing cloth using the Oki soil. All the raw materials used are sourced from Mount Takuhi and the surrounding area, including the red and yellow clay and the plants used for glazes and dyes. The vibrant colors of the finished products reflect the natural environment of the Oki Islands.

After crafting your own Oki Islands souvenir, return your e-bike and relax at your accommodation on Nishinoshima.

Day 3

Adventure from the mountains to the sea

Take a ferry to Nakanoshima Island for a unique eco-tour, in which you hike through jungles while carrying an inflatable kayak before venturing into the waters to explore sea caves. Seize the opportunity to explore typically inaccessible areas and enjoy an intrepid adventure from the mountains to the sea.

Have a satisfying lunch to recharge after the tour, then make your way to Hotel Entô, which is located near the ferry terminal in Hishiura Bay. The hotel offers a seasonal guided tour of its surrounding environment and facilities. These include an exhibition room where you can learn about the natural heritage of the Oki Islands and a lounge where you can enjoy unobstructed views of the bay through floor-to-ceiling windows. Take the opportunity to relax and immerse yourself in the atmosphere. The walks are approximately 40 minutes long and are available to everyone free of charge, regardless of whether you are a hotel guest.

Overnight in the hotel or at other accommodations on Nakanoshima Island.

Day 4

Onward Journey

Take a ferry from Nakanoshima Island to Sakaiminato Port, then transfer by bus to Yonago Kitaro Airport for your onward journeys.
