A slow paddle through the mangroves

Enjoy a fantastic day out in the mangroves with a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) experience along the Hija River, located in the central part of the main island of Okinawa. The Hija River boasts the largest watershed area on the main island. Here, you can marvel at the beauty of lush mangroves and marine creatures – including gobies, fiddler crabs, and wild birds – that make up the colorfully diverse ecosystem here.

Since the wind rarely blows strongly, this wide river has a very gentle current and stable conditions. This SUP tour is a course for beginners only, as the guides will teach you not only how to ride and paddle the vessel, but also the appropriate length of the handlebars and how to adopt a stable posture. Being close to the shore, the mangroves provide plenty of shade, so you can take a break at any time.

The tour takes about 2 hours, and since the river isn’t affected by the tides, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the tour. Enjoy the SUP experience and observe the mangroves at the same time!
