On September 21, 2018 at 9:00am (UTC +9:00), Japan Meteorological Agency pronounced and downgraded Volcanic Alert Level at Mt. Kusatsu-Shirane from Level 2 (Do not approach the crater) to Level 1 (Normal).
Onsen areas such as Kusatsu Onsen Town and Manza Onsen Area are outside of the restricted area, and the facilities in these areas are open as usual. Within approximately 500 meters from the crater, please be aware of risk of eruption of small ashes and volcanic gas.
