Kayaking and fishing on the Hijagawa River

Head to the Hijagawa River to enjoy mangrove kayaking and fishing in just one day! Hijagawa is the largest river basin on the main island of Okinawa, and is easily accessible from Kadena Town and Yomitan Village located in the center of the island.

When the water recedes, the mangroves of Hijagawa teem with wildlife, and you can see plenty of crabs and gobies emerging from the mud. The surrounding forest is home to a variety of colorful plants, making them ideal resting places for wild birds. This 4-hour excursion gives you the flexibility to go kayaking either before or after your fishing experience, since you can fish for tropical fish just 10 minutes from the port.

This kayaking experience is on a calm river with minimal wind and waves, hence it's suitable for everyone, including first-timers. Why not enjoy kayaking and fishing in the mangroves with the whole family?

Approximately 50 minutes by car from Naha Airport.
