Whale watching tour in the Kerama Islands

From late December to early April, humpback whales can be seen in the waters around Okinawa’s islands. While you can spot them from land, the best way to see whales up close is on board a whale watching boat.

The tour takes place on board a comfortable cruiser which departs from the port of Naha. The boat takes you towards the Keramashoto National Park where you will search for whales with the experience and intuition of veteran guides. When whales are found, the friendly and chatty guides will explain the various whale behaviors, as well as selection of secret whale stories. If you’re lucky, you may be able to see a 10m-long whale make a breach (giant leap in the air), exhale via their blowhole, or raise their tail (fluke). You may even get to see the heartwarming sight of whales swimming with their calves!

The tour takes about 3 to 4 hours, and it’s a great activity for the entire family (children under 5 years old can join for free). Come and see this dynamic whale performance in the Okinawan sea!

20 minutes by bus (Ryukyu Bus) from Naha Bus Terminal to Aja, then 15 minutes by walk
