One of the biggest moat settlements from the Yayoi era in Japan is Yoshinogari Historical Park, which is designated as a National Special Historical Site. The king's residence, pit dwellings, and observation towers have all been rebuilt within the park to offer both participatory and observational experiences. Climb the 12-meter lookout tower to enjoy the view of the park and explore the moat's size and depth. Get a glimpse into the past by putting your hands to work with activities such as ancient fire-making and magatama bead-making.
14 minutes by Shinkansen from JR Hakata Station to JR Shin-Tosu Station, then 11 minutes by local train to JR Yoshinogari Park Station. From there, a 15-minute walk.
