Ski and snowboard on light, powdery snow in Hokkaido

Don't miss out on some of the best powder snow in Hokkaido at Furano Ski Resort.

Don't Miss

  • Going night skiing and taking the star-watching tour
  • Seeing the ice bar during the Furano Snow Dome Festival
  • Enjoying heaps of activities in Family Snowland

How to Get There

Trains and buses connect Sapporo to Furano Ski Resort.

It is about a 50-minute limited express train ride from Sapporo to Takikawa Station and then about an hour by local train to Furano Station.

Direct buses from Sapporo Station go to the ski field (two and a half hours). Times change depending on weather conditions.

Hidden away from all the crowds

Looking for the best snow in Hokkaido? Because of the Siberian storm system, Furano benefits from the lightest, driest powder in Hokkaido. It gets up to about nine meters each season, making it a dream for powder lovers.

Hit the slopes

The Furano Ski Resort is made up of two zones: the Kitanomine Zone for easy runs and the Furano Zone with slightly more difficult runs. There are currently 28 courses and 9 lifts, and the longest run is four kilometers. One pass covers both zones, and there are hot springs near the ski fields.

Fun snow activities for all

There are many other activities available at the resort's Family Snowland, including snowmobile rides, snow rafting, cross-country skiing, bouncy castle jumping, and more.
