Ajikitcho Horie

Traditional regional cuisine reimagined and given a sense of modernity

Chef Ryusuke Nakatani dedicates himself to showcasing the produce and seafood of Osaka and Kyoto. His inspiration is rooted in the traditional cuisine of the region, called Kamigata ryori. At Ajikitcho-horie, in Osaka's Hommachi district, Chef Nakatani rethinks the traditional dishes of Naniwa (the old name for the region). He ensures the link to history isn't broken, but allows in modernity, too. The "omakase" meals, the Japanese term meaning "as recommended by the chef," feature the best produce, meats, and seafood served in dishes that reflect both the season and the region.
The restaurant itself is a reflection of the history of the area. The peaceful and inviting dining room has natural wood, woven rice straw mats, traditional paper elements, and artisanal ceramics and lacquerware, each selected to enhance the feeling of the meal and to help present the food in the best way. Service is excellent — efficient, polite, and knowledgeable. Ajikitcho-horie is an intimate expression of the best of Kamigata ryori and a respite in a busy city.
