KANSAI Catholic Himeji Church Japanese Name: カトリック姫路教会

Himeji Church was established in 1949 at Honmachi, the center of Himeji City, by Congregatio Immaculati Cordis Mariae, which has its headquarters in Belgium. Catholic Himeji Church (Xavier Building/former cathedral) started as a parish of the Catholic Osaka Archdiocese. Following this, the new cathedral was dedicated in 1972 and has continued as a church and was opened to the public since then. The patron saint of Himeji Church is Francis Xavier.

 

 

Himeji church is a World Heritage Site, located immediately east of the National Treasure Himeji Castle in the special historical area of Himeji Castle. Catholic Himeji Church can be seen when looking down in the east direction from the castle tower.

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Schedule of Mass

Every Sunday (excluding the fifth Sunday of the month) at 3:00 p.m. (English mass)

Every fourth Sunday at 7:30 p.m. (Vietnamese mass)
