Recommended season

DAY 1

Embark on a journey using a local train in Kyoto. First, visit Masahiro Japanese Sword Factory in Kameoka to experience making small swords. This is a valuable experience where you can make swords similar to the methods of making a real sword under the guidance of qualified swordsmiths. Kyoto is not only an urban city, but also an attractive coastal city. Visit the observation spot to see Amanohashidate, a 3.6-kilometer-long sandbar at the bay mouth. It looks like a dragon flying in the sky, and it is an amazing sight.

DAY 2

In the morning of the second day, continue your journey with a visit to the "Ine's boathouse area," where about 230 boathouses are lined up, each with a unique structure. The first floor is a boat garage and the second floor is a residence. You will feel refreshed as you stroll through the historic streets, feeling the sea breeze. In the afternoon, visit Kinosaki Onsen in Hyogo. Explore the hot spring town and enjoy the 7 outdoor hot springs. Cap off the day with a hot spring bath at a famous inn in the evening.

DAY 3

On the third day, take a train from Kinosaki Onsen to Tottori Station in the morning. Enjoy the coastal scenery from the train's window on the way to Tottori Sand Dunes! Tottori Sand Dunes are the largest sand dunes in Japan, stretching along the coast of the Sea of Japan. After visiting the Sand Museum there, go paragliding in the sand dunes. The best part of this trip is that you can enjoy the sea from the air as well as from the land.

DAY 3 ANOTHER ROUTE

On the third day, take a train from Kinosaki Onsen to Kurayoshi Station in Tottori Prefecture in the morning. Enjoy the coastal scenery from the train's window! In Kurayoshi, you will take a stroll around the city, where you can see the Shirakabe Warehouses and sake breweries that still retain the appearance of old Japanese houses and warehouses. You will surely feel the good old Japanese life in the charming streets.

DAY 4

The main sightseeing spot on the fourth day is Himeji in Hyogo Prefecture, which can be reached in about two hours from Tottori by JR limited express. Himeji Castle, a World Heritage Site, is a seven-story wooden structure that will overwhelm you with the craftsmanship of its time. Take a leisurely stroll around the sightseeing spots in Himeji City all day and in the evening, you will enjoy Kobe beef at a famous teppanyaki steak restaurant. The thick steak and the extravagant atmosphere will lift your spirits!
