Classic Route

Savour Kyoto's long-established restaurants with Maiko

Recommended season

DAY 1

Move from Kansai Airport to the port city of Kobe, where there are many places to visit, such as the Old Kobe Settlement - with its retro Western-style buildings dating back to the 19th century, and also Nankin-machi - one of the most famous Chinatowns in Western Japan. It is highly recommended to take a stroll on foot. In Kobe, you can enjoy Kobe Beef - a famous marbled beef with a fine texture and rich flavor.

DAY 2

Himeji is located in the southwestern part of Hyogo Prefecture. A visit to the white and elegant Himeji Castle (UNESCO World Heritage and National Treasure), is a must-see. We recommend using the guide service that will help you learn the history and highlights of the castle. Stay overnight in Kinosaki Onsen. Kinosaki Onsen is one of the most popular tourist destinations among Japanese people, with its riverside hot spring resort and willow trees decorating the town. You cannot miss the chance to enjoy a tour of the hot springs.

DAY 3

In the morning, you will go to Izushi, which flourished as the castle town of Izushi Castle, accessible by bus from Kinosaki in about 30 minutes. After visiting the oldest clock tower in Japan and Shinkoro, you can experience making soba by hands, which are served on beautiful white porcelain plates. After returning to Kinosaki, take the Kinosaki Onsen Ropeway to the top of the mountain, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the hot spring resort and the Sea of Japan.

DAY 4

Go to Kameoka in the mid-western part of Kyoto Prefecture. Try making your own original Japanese sword under the guidance of Kyoto's swordsmith. While learning about the history of Japanese swords and traditional crafts, the real fun is in transforming the metal material into the delicate little sword you envisioned. You can reach Kyoto, where you will be staying, in about 30 minutes by Sanin Line.

DAY 5

In the morning, take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Sta. to Uji, a city known for its green tea production since ancient times, for about 30 minutes. You will first try making green tea. You will enjoy everything from grinding the tea leaves to making and tasting the tea. After that, visit historical spots such as Byodoin Temple and Ujigami-jinja Shrine, which are both recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the afternoon, go to Kyoto City. In the evening, enjoy a meal at a long-established restaurant while watching maiko dance! Let's spend a special time in Kyoto.
