An Exquisite Journey of Gastronomy & Art on Lake Kawaguchi, One of Mount Fuji’s Five Lakes**

Hamanashi Houseboat

Hamanashi Houseboat is Lake Kawaguchi’s only floating restaurant, offering an unforgettable dining experience at the foot of Mount Fuji from an entirely new perspective. Originally a traditional yakata-bune houseboat, Hamanashi Houseboat has been artfully transformed into a refined dining space that allows guests to drift gently across the expansive lake while enjoying an uninterrupted view of Japan’s most iconic peak.

The excursion centers around “Fuji Hokuroku Gastronomy & Art,” a premium dinner created in collaboration with chefs, sushi masters, sommeliers and local wineries from the foothill of Mount Fuji. Each dish is crafted using seasonal ingredients sourced from the region, delivering flavors that exist only in that moment, in that place. Guests are invited to savor these courses alongside carefully curated wine pairings, all enriched by the stories of the producers who bring them to life.

As the evening progresses, a surprising artistic element enhances the journey: delightful pixel art presented with dessert, designed to gently permeate the senses. Through images of the lake’s diverse aquatic plants, fish, and birds, this playful yet refined digital projection tells the story of the area around Mount Fuji and deepens the connection between nature and cuisine.

Aboard Hamanashi Houseboat, guests experience more than a meal—they encounter a floating world where Lake Kawaguchi’s serenity, Mount Fuji’s majesty, and the region’s rich food culture come together in perfect harmony. This rare combination of scenery and artistry paired with masterfully prepared cuisine and wine creates an experience that lingers long after the boat returns to shore.
