The green way up Mt. Fuji
Gotemba is the green trail—the newest and least crowded route of all the trails up Mt. Fuji. The slope is gentle and made of volcanic gravel that runs up to the eighth station. The path for the ascent diverges from the one for descent at the midway point, so stay attentive and follow the green going up. On average, the ascent on Gotemba will take seven hours, and the descent will require three.
The Gotemba 5th Station is situated lower than the other 5th Stations on Mt. Fuji
The Gotemba trail is therefore more difficult than the other routes in terms of distance and difference in elevation and is recommended for experienced climbers
How to Get There
Use the mountain climbing bus running from Gotemba Station on the JR Gotemba Line.
The Tokaido Main Line connects with the JR Gotemba Line at Kozu and Numazu.
There are shops, an information booth and public restrooms at the Gotemba trailhead. The route doesn't have a first-aid center. This route only has a few mountain huts near the new fifth station and the seventh station.
