منتزه سوميدا 隅田公園
This riverside park provides a quiet respite after Asakusa's crowds
After the busy streets of Asakusa , this green space bordering the Sumida River is a relaxing spot that offers great views of Tokyo Sky Tree rising toward the clouds. Make sure to stop by during cherry blossom season.
How to Get There
You can reach the park via train or taxi.
Sumida Park's entrance is a five-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Ginza, Asakusa and Tobu Isezaki lines. The park runs along both sides of the Sumida River.
A narrow stretch of green in Asakusa
Stroll under the trees between the Azumabashi and Sakurabashi bridges, and stop to take in the modern sculptures around the park. Green Planet, which resembles a colander, is a popular spot to capture an unusual shot of Tokyo Skytree . There is also a big playground, perfect for kids. Across the river you can see the Asahi Beer Hall building, which some say resembles a mug of the frothy golden beverage.
Cherry trees and summer fireworks
During the spring the park is covered in delicate cherry blossoms, said to have been planted by shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune. In late July, Sumida Park is one of the best places to watch Tokyo's most popular fireworks show.
