Shimabara Church

 

Japanese Name: カトリック島原教会

 

Shimabara Church is dedicated to the 26 Saints of Japan, where prayers are made to the Christians who became martyrs on the Shimabara Peninsula.

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Special Notices

■ Under normal circumstances, most Nagasaki churches are open. However, for management reasons, some might be closed

■ The main door at the front of the church is usually used when a mass is being held. Before entering the church, kindly remove one’s shoes and place them in the shoe rack provided. Same goes with hats.

■ Once inside, visitors are politely requested to remain quiet at all times. This is in respect to the church’s spiritual atmosphere.

■ Photography inside the church is normally prohibited.

■ There are no restrooms available at the church.

Unzen Church

 

Japanese Name: カトリック雲仙教会

 

Unzen Church was constructed to celebrate Pope John Paul II’s visit and is dedicated to those who suffered from Unzen and became martyrs at Nishizaka.
