Wakayama Historical Center わかやま歴史館

After admiring the grand architecture of Wakayama Castle , a visit to the nearby Wakayama Historical Center offers deeper insights into the castle's dramatic history and those who played a part in its rise and fall.

The Wakayama Historical Center is accessible on foot, by bus, or by train. It takes 20 minutes on foot from Wakayama Station. From Nankai Wakayama-shi Station, it's a 10-minute walk to the museum. You can also take a bus from Wakayama Station bound for Wakayama Castle . Disembark at the Shiyakusho-mae bus stop.

Wakayama Historical Center sits a short stroll away from Wakayama Castle and has two floors packed with artifacts and drawings, ancient records, and excavated relics. There are also a short film presentation documenting the reconstruction of the castle and a full-sized tea house.

Admission to the center is 100 yen (or free with your Castle Admission Ticket). Open 9:00-17:30 with the last entry at 17:00.
