That's me, with JNTO and @Tabit brochures
When I visited LaGuardia Community College few months ago to meet Japanese Club members, I was surprised that there're a lot more Japan-Freaks (sorry guys...) than Japanese members, and they told me about Asian Heritage Festival. The members of this Japanese Club are so unique in terms of their interests in Japan and I have to say my favorite one was Mario Garcia, who actually performed Kendo martial arts demonstration at the Asian Heritage Festival. His skills were fantastic (it was way better than Tom Cruise in Last Samurai...) and... for me as a Japanaese, he was more Japanese than I was at that point...
As an audience, I really enjoyed the wide range of cultural performances, which I had to apologize because I was busy checking up on these performances and almost forgot about promoting the lottery registration... Not only Japan, but performers from other Asian nations also had spectacular performances.
This event clearly showed the comittement and teamwork from both faculty members and students for one goal, making the event successful. I had some great time with my professors and faculty members in the past and, having this sort of event will always be remained in their memory.
Many of the guests would come back for the nexy year as long as this event keeps its level. I personally would come back for the performance and free lunch :)Taiko performance The Asian Heritage Day was held: LaGuardia Community College/CUNY 31-10 Thomson Avenue Cobblestone Courtyard Long Island City, NY 11101 2:00-5:00pm @Tabit Ken Negishi
