Today is the special screening of Abduction-The Megumi Yokota Story in midtown Manhattan. This documentary was actually in NYC theaters earlier this year. There were a few advertisements about this film on Japanese TV. This movie attempts to share the knowledge about North Koreans kidnapping Japanese civilians, focusing on Megumi Yokota, in the 70's to help their spy intelligence.
Megumi Yokota (c) Safari Media ANA Nippon Eiga series sponsor a variety of films almost every month. This is a great opportunity for everyone to learn about nouveau Japanese films. I am looking forward to watching this Part 8 series especially since I missed my chance in January. Tomorrow Tanja will submit a blog with her reflections about this documentary. Her last day at Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO) will unfortunately be Thursday August 23. We will have a small office party for her. We will miss her.
