Kyoto Dear Mr. Tsuchiyama: Thank you for your email, and your interest in traveling to Japan. To answer your question, according to my co-worker's research as follow. The frequencies in the U.S. for FM from 87.5 to 108 Mhz and for Japan is 76 to 90 Mhz. Therefore, the posibility is U.S. radio can only reach 87.5 to 90 Mhz in Japan. Although this may provide you some idea, we still suggest you to verify with the manufacture for details. Have a nice trip. I was scanning some of my old e-mail messages and came across this one. I had to tell you about our use of the Motorola walkie-talkies that we bought in our local Costco store. They worked all over Japan, and were very convenient because our group of 5 got separated many times and we were able to use them to get back together again. In fact, the first time we tried it was in the Shinjuku station. My wife had taken 4 of them into the basement of Isetan while I waited for my dad and his wife at a pre-arranged location on the second level below street level. When I met up with my dad, I was still able to contact my wife who was already in the basement shopping for food stuff with the rest of our traveling group. That range and the locations of both units was what amazed me. We used them all over Japan. All over Tokyo, and in Hakone, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Beppu, Kumamoto, and finally, Osaka.
