Miyagi

The urban city of Sendai offers a combination of culture and modern life; from the aroma and flavor of grilled beef tongue to the cityscape view of Aoba Castle, modern culture blends with history in this unique city. During the summer, Sendai transforms with traditional paper crafts into one of Tohoku’s three greatest festivals. Just outside of Sendai lies Matsushima, a modest rural town with a beautiful bay and many small islets covered in pines. Matsushima is not just one of the three most beautiful views in Japan, but it is also home to the culturally important Zuiganji and Entsuin.
