How to Get There
The bridge is easily accessible by train or plane, and then taxi.
Take a train to JR Iwakuni Station on the Sanyo Main Line from Hiroshima, or take the Sanyo Shinkansen from Shin-Yamaguchi Station or Hiroshima Station to Shin-Iwakuni Station. The bridge is situated between the stations, so take a taxi or bus on to Kintaikyo Bridge from there. If flying, take a cab or bus after arriving at Iwakuni Kintaikyo Airport from Haneda Airport.
A summertime display
Kintaikyo is especially beautiful during August, when the summer fireworks festival takes place. A popular summer tradition, the fireworks illuminate the bridge to great effect.

Of bridges and cherry blossoms
If you're in Yamaguchi during early spring, Kintaikyo will draw you in when the many cherry trees along its banks come into bloom in April, bringing the bridge to life. The soft pink petals against the strong structure of the bridge make Kintaikyo look like something out of a woodblock print.
