Uozu City
Located in the northeastern part of Toyama Prefecture, Uozu City is just about 30 minutes by car from the prefectural capital Toyama City. The city is characterized by a unique topography that rises in elevation from the plains facing Toyama Bay all the way up to the 2,000-meter mountains, making it an area full of water resources and natural beauty. Due to the short distance between mountains and sea, visitors to Uozu can enjoy a variety of different landscapes close together.
If visiting in spring, be sure to spend some time in the charming Hana-no-Mori Tenjinyama Garden . Take a leisurely stroll along the garden paths and admire the fully bloomed flowering peach trees and other beautiful flowers popping with vivid colors. You will also find 1,400 tree peonies of 250 varieties, 1,200 Chinese peonies , 1,500 rhododendron plants, and 100,000 daffodils across an area of approximately 9,000 square meters. The best time to visit is from late March to mid-June.
Hana-no-Mori Tenjinyama Garden is a natural botanical garden, and as this designation suggests, it is maintained in a way that preserves its natural state as much as possible. The plants may appear to grow “naturally,” but in reality the park is maintained by volunteers who apply fertilizer, remove weeds, and prevent diseases. To ensure that the garden can be enjoyed for many years to come, we ask that visitors pay a small admission fee to help cover maintenance costs.
From Toyama Station, take the Ainokaze Toyama Railway to Uozu Station (about 25 minutes), then a Uozu City Bus (10 minutes).
