Hiroshima | Sailing in Sandankyo Gorge

Picturesque Sights and Sailing at Sandankyo’s Kurofuchi
Just an hour’s drive from Hiroshima city via expressway lies one of the most breathtaking sites in Western Japan: Sandankyo Gorge. Whether you prefer difficult hikes or taking things easy, Sandankyo offers breathtaking autumn views that you will not want to miss. After a fifty minute hike, starting from the main entrance of Sandankyo, you’ll find yourself at Kurofuchi pool, where you can either continue along the walkway or take a minute of repose with a boat ride. Kurofuchi’s boat ride offers you the opportunity to sit back and gaze at the skies, taking in the magnificent cliffs towering over the river. If you get thirsty, feel free to reach down for a handful of crystal clear water. You might even spot an Oosanshouou, a member of the second-largest species of salamander in the world! The boat ride ends at Kurofuchisou, the only restaurant in Sandankyo. Here, you can enjoy local specialties, such as sweet fish caught from fresh. Kurofuchisou also offers a wide range of vegetarian-friendly options! Come relax, reflect, refresh at Sandankyo’s Kurofuchi.
