You can’t spend the day in Osaka and not eat! It’s definitely a must try activity while you are here. Considered to be Japan’s food capital you won’t want to miss out on doing a food tour while you’re here.
Here are some must try items while you’re in Osaka:
Gifuya Honke Restaurant
Gifuya Honke Restaurant is located in Shinsekai area of Osaka and sepcializes in deep fried skewers, or kushikatsu. Make sure to come with a big group of friends so you can get an assorted platter so share!
Takoyaki
A ball shaped treat that made up of octopus and battered. It’s often served with various toppings like mayonnaise, takoyaki sauce, bonito flakes, and dried seawood.
Shinsekai
Shinsekai, or New World, is an area in Osaka that continues to retain it’s old world charm from post-war times. It’s extremely popular with locals and tourists for it’s affordable eateries, pubs, and shops.
Dotonbori
Dotonbori is considered to be the largest attraction in Osaka. It sits along the Dōtonbori canal and is famous for it’s large signs that shine brightly at night. If Osaka is Japan’s food capital then Dotonbori is centre of Osaka’s bustling food scene. There are as many restaurants and eateries as there are brightly lit signs and you’ll never have a shortage of new things to try.
Umeda Sky Building
The Umeda Sky Building is an impressive structure that towers over most buildings in Osaka. It’s made of of two buildings that are connected by a 360 degree observatory that gives you the most breathtaking views over all of Osaka.
It’s the perfect spot to enjoy sunset before you make your way out to enjoy the Osaka nightlife.
