Enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding Kobe, just a stone's throw from the city center
Kobe Tourism Bureau
Located in the Kansai region, Kobe is an urban city like Osaka and Kyoto, but the sea and mountains that surround it make it a more unique location. If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the town and do some outdoor activities, it would be a great idea to spend some time in the mountain area amid the lush nature. Since Kobe is located close to the mountains, it has many trekking and hiking trails and the entrances to those trails can be found everywhere in the city. Hiking on Mt. Rokko is especially recommended. Once you reach the top, you can either enjoy the scenery of the port town of Kobe from the mountain or walk a bit further to Arima Onsen to relieve your fatigue by taking a hot spring bath. Get away from the city center and enjoy Kobe to the fullest.
How to get there
Approximately one hour 30 minutes from Shin-Osaka Station to reach the top of Mt. Rokko via train, bus, and cable car.
Take the bus from Kansai International Airport (KIX) for about 1 hour to JR Sannomiya Station, then take the train, bus, and cable car for about 1 hour to reach the top of Mt. Rokko.
