Discover the most beautiful places to see cherry blossoms in Sendai, where history and nature blend together in perfect harmony
Sendai City
The city of Sendai offers plenty of great spots to view cherry blossoms. One such spot is the Zuihoden Mausoleum, the resting place of Date Masamune, the warlord who orchestrated the settlement of Sendai in 1601. At this historical site, where the natural beauty of the four seasons harmonizes gracefully with the stunning architecture, the cherry blossom season is particularly charming, and crowds of visitors flock every year to soak up the spring scenery.
Another popular spot is the Sendai Castle, where you can enjoy the unique sight of cherry blossoms surrounding the famous statue of Date Masamune. Sendai Castle is also the perfect place to enjoy a great view of Sendai City and even take a trip back in time to the era of Date Masamune with the onsite VR attraction.
How to get there
From Tokyo Station, take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Sendai Station (about 1 hour and 30 minutes).
