Visit Japan World Heritage Sites with Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass

Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass by JR-Central, a rail pass dedicated for foreign tourists and it offers five consecutive days of unlimited travel on JR-trains, connecting Nagoya with Takayama and Toyama, and Osaka with Kanazawa and Toyama, as well as on buses to Shirakawago.

If you are a pass holder, you can head to Shirakawa-go and neighbouring Gokayama regions from Kansai International Airport directly. This famous World Heritage Site is popular for its traditional Gassho-zukuri farmhouses as the steep thatched roofs resemble the hands of Buddhist monks pressed together in prayer. The historic architectural designs were meant to withstand the large amounts of heavy snow that falls in the region during winter. In autumn, the compound was filled with autumn leaves and gives the best spot for photography.

The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, the largest dinosaur museum in Japan located in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture, is also recognized as one of the world's best three dinosaur museums. The museum includes the 44 mounted dinosaur skeletons, the large prehistoric diorama, and the exhibition representing the evolution of life from the origin of life to the emergence of humankind. The Field Station near the museum attracts many visitors, where they enjoy excavating dinosaur fossils.

Tsuzumi-mon Gate Kanazawa Station is situated at Iishikawa Prefecture, and is also listed as the landmark of Kanazawa. You will be impressed by its modern design with subtle touches of gold and traditional décor. The Tsuzumi-mon gate is built with local Japanese cypress where the gigantic Motenashi dome is meant to mainly protects travellers from the rains and snowfalls typical to the region. What a beautiful masterpiece!
