Takahashi Manjuya shop

Located along a major thoroughfare in Obihiro City, Takahashi Manjuya is a small but long-established shop that sells obanyakiObanyaki is a traditional Japanese snack made with semi-sweet batter, cooked in a special pan with a circular mold and stuffed with various fillings. The obanyaki of Takahashi Manjuya are filled with either red bean paste or salty cheese. Inside the shop, you can watch the owner Mr. Michiaki Takahashi as he cooks the delectable snacks. They have become so well-loved in Obihiro City that the locals don’t call them obanyaki, but by the shop’s nickname Takaman. The shop also sells steamed bread, pork buns, and soft-serve ice cream.

Takahashi Manjuya is frequented by regulars even during weekdays, and there is almost always a queue outside the shop during weekends. It is as if the shop energizes the entire city the same way that the obanyaki energizes you with a delicious snack. Try it out and you’ll find out why it’s been a favorite in Obihiro for a long time.
