TIROL-CHOCO OUTLET SHOP

The small, square “Tirol-Choco” are a staple of Japanese pop confectionery and it is no exaggeration to say that everyone in Japan has tried them at least once. Here we discovered the company’s only outlet shop in Japan! This factory outlet attracts many visitors and those in the know start queuing from quite early. It is open from 9:00 and sometimes sells out as early as before noon. Getting your hands on a bag might prove to be harder than you thought! This small shop beside the factory facing the main street sells outlet products of the day in fully-packed transparent vinyl plastic bags. The bags are chock-full of factory rejects, such as chocolates with chipped corners or other defects. But this is in name only because in most cases these “defects” are too small to notice, if they even exist! Besides the company’s standard offerings, limited-time series can also be found here along with unique and rare products. All this, combined with a touch of nostalgia explains why something that started as an attraction for children became equally popular among adults. While Tirol-Choco usually goes for 20-40 yen a piece at convenience stores and ordinary shops, at this outlet each bag sells at the discounted price of 500 yen.
