From summer to autumn, “Glover Garden”, one of Nagasaki’s main sightseeing spots, holds a special night opening. During that period, the garden extends its hours past its regular 18:00 closing time, the buildings are wonderfully lit-up, and there is a beer garden where you can spend a nice evening marveling at Nagasaki’s nightscape. The atmosphere is very different from what you’d experience if you visit during the daytime and it will give you an idea of how things were back in the days when the Glover’s house was the center of the city’s social life.
Having opened in 1941, the Glover Garden gathers various examples of the Western-style buildings that once were scattered throughout Nagasaki, including the former "Glover Residence", "Ringer House" and "Alt House." Among these, "Glover Residence" merits a special mention because it has been included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list as the oldest extant Western-style wooden building in Japan. The nine Western-style buildings included in the garden offer a glimpse of how life was for the foreign businessmen and diplomats who came to Japan during those times.

Entrance fee: Same-day ticket 4,800 yen / Junior and high school students 2,000 yen / Elementary school students 1,000 yen
