Located in southern Kyushu, Miyazaki City in Miyazaki Prefecture is a town of flowers and nature. Blessed with abundant food sources nurtured by its warm climate, the city hosts an annual event called "Miyazaki Gourmet and Lantern Night", where people can enjoy local specialty dishes with high-quality ingredients along with dishes from all over Japan, under 10,000 colorful lanterns shining in the night sky.
The lanterns are decorated based on themes of each area represented, creating a dreamy atmosphere in the summer night.
The event is held every year from early August for about two weeks. People can enjoy a variety of delicious food from all over Japan, including meat dishes featuring also Miyazaki-gyu beef, noodle dishes, and desserts. There are also many events that families and friends can enjoy together, offering a memorable summer time experience. The venue, "Florante Miyazaki", is only about 10 minutes from JR Miyazaki Station by car. The park is filled with colorful summer flowers, including sunflowers and hibiscus, along with palm trees, setting the mood for “the exotic southern land, Miyazaki." At night, the flowerbeds in the park are illuminated, creating different scenery from that of the daytime. Put on a "yukata", visit the park, and enjoy the summer night!
