Exotic Nagasaki has a long history of international exchanges, resulting in the development of unique local cuisine. Here are two famous noodle dishes representing Nagasaki, “champon” and “saraudon”. Both are different in flavor to the very well-known Kyushu noodles “tonkotsu ramen”.
Champon is a delicious dish consisting of various ingredients including thick noodles, vegetables, seafood and sliced pork, in a pork bone broth. It was originally a meal for staff of Chinese restaurants, but is now regarded as the representative dish of Nagasaki. Champon is filling and well as being good for your health. Saraudon was originated as a fried-version of champon and is also a signature dish of Nagasaki, just like champon. A starchy soup clings to the noodles and vegetables, bringing the ingredients together to create a oneness of taste. There are two types of noodles, fried thin noodles and non-fried-thick ones.
Which one sounds better to you?
