Katsuretsutei restaurant

Atsuage Tonkatsu

“Katsuretsutei” is a “tonkatsu” (pork cutlet) restaurant established in 1975 and boasts enduring popularity in Kumamoto. Its signature dish “Atsuage Tonkatsu” is a thicker tonkatsu than a regular one, claiming a wide base of loyal fans regardless of age or gender. You have two choices of sauce, Western-style thicker sauce and a lighter Japanese-style soy-sauce. Feel free to mix them if you'd like to make your own original.
The quality of the meat is high because only local pigs raised in contracted farms are used in this restaurant. The steamed rice served here also enjoys a good reputation. Freshly steamed rice goes very well with a crispy-outside, soft-on-the-palate inside tonkatsu. Furthermore, steamed rice, akadashi miso soup, and shredded cabbage are free for seconds. So you can easily imagine why this restaurant is so popular.
