How to Get There

Tottori Hanakairo Flower Park in western Tottori can be accessed by train. The nearest station is Yonago Station and the Japan Rail Pass can be used on all lines serving this station.

A free shuttle bus runs from Yonago Station in Yonago , the nearest city. It takes about 25 minutes.

An impressive flower park

The park was opened in 1999 after five years of construction costing more than 18 billion yen. Flowers bloom year-round. A covered one-kilometer walkway encircles a giant dome and a variety of gardens and landscapes. Outside, paths are flanked by undulating flower beds and pass through copses of trees Mt. Daisen. Visitors can also enjoy views of Mt. Daisen .

Borrowed scenery

The spectacular Flower Hill at the far end of the park is arguably one of the most photogenic spots in the region. Its sweeping contours are awash with bright and vivid colors, particularly in September when carpeted with vibrant salvias. The magnificent Mt. Daisen forms a backdrop to the garden, a Japanese garden technique known as "borrowed scenery."

Pretty by night

On certain nights of the year, the park is beautifully illuminated for night viewing. The popular “Moonlight Flower Garden” event is held in mid-August. Another illumination is held during the Christmas season. Check the official park website for further details.

Futuristic design

At the center of the park is The Flower Dome, a 69-foot-tall transparent hemisphere that wouldn't look out of place in a sci-fi movie set on Mars. Inside, you can find a steamy sub-tropical environment that supports hundreds of orchids, palm trees and a host of other exotic flora.

Fun for the whole family

The large park is the perfect place for children to stretch their legs in the fresh air of the suburbs. The park operates a "Flower Train," a small train that takes you on a 15-minute tour around the park for a small fee.

Dazzling beauty year-round

The countless varieties of flora and carefully planned planting schedules ensure that the park is spectacular throughout the year. The park has a covered walkway which offers shelter in inclement weather.
