Stunning ocean views from this hillside castle
Nakamura Castle sits on top of a mountain looking over the city of Shimanto, with views over farmland, mountain ranges, and villages. The site is beside the Shimanto River , which weaves towards the inlet of the Pacific Ocean.
How to Get There
A 10-minute drive or a 35-minute walk from Nakamura Station on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway.
A reconstructed castle
The castle was reconstructed with a beautiful and impressive white facade and is designed on Aichi's Inuyama Castle. Heading up towards the castle is a park that offers great paths for strolling along, planted with a variety of trees and shrubs, offering rich colors throughout the season.
Watching over the Shimanto River
Close by, you will find a number of shrines and temples. The main area of interest is the Shimanto River , which has numerous activities to please any visitor. Take a walking tour, hire a kayak or canoe and paddle along the river, or take a boat tour that guides you under many bridges that cross over this 196-kilometer waterway.
