Among the coolest things Ken and I did together was a talk about the Vietnam War to the congregants of Toko-ji Zen Buddhist Temple in Amakusa.
And when the country you visit is Japan, it can feel otherworldly, but nevertheless I must reiterate that you should not underestimate it.
Here I was in Japan's busiest commuter station, served by more than a half-dozen train and subway lines and as many as 60 exits, and I couldn't find a sign in English to direct me to where I wanted to go.
I have memories of the touching and peaceful setting of Hiroshima to the wild and crazy nights in a Roppongi karaoke bar, and many places in between.
