The Adachi Museum, in a small town called Yasugi in Shimane Prefecture, blows me away every time I lay eyes on its masterpieces.
Getting High in Shinjuku
Shinjuku was the birthplace of Tokyo's first skyscraper, way back in 1971, but in the past decade highrises have mushroomed all over the metropolis. Some of these newcomers house plush hotels, while many more boast tony restaurants with spectacular views on their top floors.
Time Traveling in Kyushu
You can whip between Kumamoto and Kagoshima (in southern Kyushu) in a little over an hour, surrounded by fellow passengers who are most likely reading, working, eating or catching up on their sleep.
GOING TO HELL IN BEPPU
Volcanic in origin, Japan is literally soaking in hot-spring spas (onsen), but no place in the country gushes more thermal waters than Beppu, on Kyushu's eastern coast.
