At the LA Times and the NY Times travel shows, both held last month, we set up the Visit Japan Campaign booths to promote Japan to visitors. We could also give them a chance to enjoy a little bit of Japanese culture. At the LA Times Travel Show, visitors saw a breathtaking performance of Japanese traditional wood carving and got handmade wooden chopsticks as souvenirs.
At the NY Times Travel Show, our staff greeted visitors dressing as a samurai in full armor and sumo wrestlers. But the most exciting attraction (?) at our booth was monks from Kyoto. Many visitors were really excited having the monks write their English names in Japanese.
We hope you'll visit our booths next year and experience Japan's warm hospitality and our beautiful culture.
