JAPAN RECORDS MORE THAN 3 MILLION VISITORS FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE MONTH

New York – May 30, 2024: The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that for the second consecutive month, the number of visitors arriving in Japan has exceeded 3 million. A total of 3,042,900 visitors were recorded in April 2024 – a 56.1% increase over April 2023, with the total number of visitors recorded so far in 2024 exceeding 11 million. The number of American visitors to Japan also reached a record high of 228,900 travelers in April 2024, up 24.5% from the same month last year.

Japan continues to be one of the world’s most popular and talked about travel destinations this year, having recently been featured on Travel+Leisure's 2024 It List and Condé Nast Traveler's 2024 Hot List, these magazines’ editors' and writers' prestigious lists of the best new hotels of the year. The New York Times also selected Yamaguchi City for its "52 Places to Go in 2024", which highlighted its Rurikoji Temple and the annual Gion Festival. And The Wall Street Journal selected Kyushu for its "The 10 Best Places to Visit in 2024" list, featuring new tourism projects that focus on local cuisine, ceramics and nature.
