The small village of Ini, located in a steep valley outside Akiota Town in Hiroshima Prefecture, is ranked as one of Japan’s top 100 locations to see traditional rice terraces and was named by CNN in a list of Japan’s most beautiful places. Here, you can see over 300 little paddy fields within an hour drive from central Hiroshima City or Hiroshima Airport.

Explore this charming village to find your best photo shot. Its beauty is displayed differently in each season depending on when you visit—lush greens in summer, yellow at harvest time in the autumn and covered in heavy snowfall in winter.

If you wish, the local tourism organization can arrange an opporunity to visit local farmers, experience Japanese rural life, and even try your hand at traditional cooking unique to Akiota.

The rice grown here has been cultivated with the cool crisp air and spring water from the mountains, making it renowned for its superb flavor. Sample the rice and other local specialties at Ini (Eeny), Meeny, Miny, Moe Cafe. This cozy spot offers a panoramic view of the rice terraces, which you can enjoy while eating some delicious treats.
