Off the beaten path of traditional bath culture
Toyooka Tourism Innovation
When winter in Japan melts into spring, cherry blossoms, known as “sakura,” bloom across the country. The Kinosaki Onsen hot spring and its surrounding areas are no exception. One great place to see the sakura both during the day and at night is along Kiyamachi Street near Ichino-yu, one of the town’s seven public Japanese onsen. Sakura line the small canal and create a soft pink canopy for nearly a kilometer, stretching all the way back to the ropeway.
At night, the pink lanterns glow softly, creating a romantic atmosphere perfect for an evening stroll between onsen and shop visits. Visitors to Kinosaki Onsen can enhance their experience among the sakura with a yukata rental and a professional photoshoot. Although most ryokan in town provide yukata as part of their guest amenities, the town’s yukata shop and rental shop offer a wider variety, with many different colors and designs to rent for the day.
How to get there
From Shin-Osaka Station, take the JR Express Konotori to Kinosaki Onsen Station (about 3 hours).
